Franklin Roosevelt, that it will bo impossible for debtor nations to pay unless America completely reverses her tariff and other economic policies and accepts goods and services in
payment for goods and services borrowed from her. The situation can. only be saved by wiping out the whole entanglement and accepting a final payment in full settlement, otherwise general world default is inevitable, and Lausanne and th e World Economic Conference doomed.

Authority for the United States Treasury to buy 2,050,000,000 dollars worth of silver certificates, was asked to-day hy Senator Dill (Democrat. Washington).
The silver would he purchased at the market price, hut limited to a maximum of 1\- dollars an ounce of bullion. The certificates would be legal tender lor all debts.

The New York Times states that the whole field of international relations of the United States, including war debts. the recognition of Russia. and the policy concerning Sino-Japanese hostilities, was discussed at Air. Roosevelt's home today at a conference between AH. Roosevelt and Mr. Stirnson. Secretarv of State.
Both declined to reveal details of the conversation, but the purpose of the conference is obviously to per mit Air. Roosevelt to familiarise himself with the State Departments handling the international problems, enabling him to take prompt action after his inauguration in the Presidency.
