The company has in view several improvements which will greatly facilitate the work. Adjoining the killing and dressing board; a small building is being erected for'killing and preparation for dressing purposes, so that when ihe carcases enter the dressing Toom no time will be lost. An automatic chain conveyor will also be installed shortly. Moving at a speed of approx.irnateIv a quarter of a mile an hour, the conveyor will allow n space of 2ft Gin to each worker for his particular job. Killing operations have also been improved by making it possible for the men to perform the work while standing upright instead of bending. Another 'improvementwhich wil] be. introduced shortly, is the placing of the platform for the initial stages of dressing at right angles to the chain lines Instead or the present parallel position. The Gear Meat Company has six chain lines in operation at the works at Pet-one. and tallies last Friday totalled 6249.
