Press Association.> WELLINGTON, Jan. 0. —Geneva 1 Situation—While the first of a series of westerly depressions is crossing the South Island, conditions arc very disturbed in the tropics. Cyclones arc centred in the New Hebrides and south oi Nieu respectively. —Forecast— Winds: Light to fresh, southwest to northwest prevailing, south of Kawhia and Najher, elsewhere variable, with south-west to south-east predominating. Seas: Rather rough at times about Cook Strait, hut mainly smooth to moderate! generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: \\ inds variable, south-easterlies prevailing in the far north and westerlies iii the southern portion; seas smooth to moderate.
Weather; Showery at Nines on parts of the West Coast of the South Island and tho eastern districts as far north as Timaru, but mainly fair and warm generally. Unsettled conditions arc Jikely in tlic north after a day or two.
