NEARLY AT WAR
LORD PONSONBY AND A BRITISH CRISIS.
Lord Ponsonby, who was Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport in the Socialist Government, speaking at a No Morgj War conference at Sheffield, said that since the Great War we had been within an ace of going to war with another country. Leaflets were ready, he said, showing up that country as a nefarious breaker of the peace. He dared say those pamphlets were still waiting in case the emergency arose again. Lord Ponsonby later declined to reveal the country referred to i n his speech, but said that the crisis did not occur while the Socialist Government was in office.
