POLICE ARREST MAORI ‘YOUTH
ON SUSPICION

As a result of being shot in the side while sleeping in bed at 4.30 this morning, Hafci Robson, a wellknown Maori dairy farmer, of I-’uketoto, near Kaitai, died in the Kaitaia hospital this afternoon. -Mrs. Robson, who was sleeping in the same room, did not hear the shot, but was awakened by a cry from her husband. Dr. Clarke was called in immediately and ordered Robson’s removal to hospital.
Tlig police arrived at the farm from Kaitaia and, as a result of their investigations, arrested a Maori youth. A preliminary inquest was opened this evening and adjourned to Monday morning.
A gun was found some distance from the deceased’s house.
