RODEO AT RUATORIA
Holding its- initial mooting last week", tho ltuatoria Rodeo Club provided a' good gathering of spectators ■with game thrilling suort. A slight shower fell during the afternoon, but tho weather,'otherwise, was ideal. No accidents occurred during tho day. -, Tl»c' steer riding- drew 24'entries, including six double entries. The winner was Palci Johnson, a boy of 15, who rode two- steers. with S. Forbes (Te Araroa) second and T. EWhite (Wairongomai Station) third.
There -wore. nine entries' for the liorse jumping and some very good work Was witnessed. Win. Tuhou’s Makarana was the winner and. W. ;C1 ark’s To Arolia was second. A flag race (II entries) was won by' WinTe Kira, with B. McNeill second.
Great excitement was caused by wild horse riding, which drew 19 entries. There was some splendid horsemanship and only five of the riders were thrown. T. Eliau, the winner, gave a great exhibition on a real outlaw. K. Tuhou was second and tho competition for the best exhibition ride was won by H. Beach jr. P. Johnson scored most points at the meeting. .' Mr. Akers, represented the St. John Ambulance Association, was present, but fortunately his services were not required.
