REMAINING AMATEUR MEANWHILE NO TORONTO ATMS (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Jan. 6, 8 p.rn.) HAMILTON (Ontario) Jan. 5. If Bob Pearce has an idea of leaving tho amateur ranks, it will not he until after the Canadian Henley Regatta this summer, the Olympic champion revealed on Thursday night, when answering a direct question in regard to the proposed world title sculling race in Toronto this year, in which he would meet the leading professional and amateur scullers for a prize of 5000 dollars. Pearce asserted that lie had heard nothing about- such a project and that he was still an amateur. “Of course I am training at St. Catherine’s”, he added, “but- I have been training there during the past three winters. 1 intend to compete in the Canadian I-lenley again, and anything that comes after that is indefinite, so far as I know now. 1 am concentrating on my training, only with the idea of the Canadian championships, although I mav compete in other amateur onts.”
