DEATH AFTER. PEN IKUAIENT

A. verdict of death due to a rifle shot, soil-inflicted, was reauniod at the. inquest concerning the death of a boy, William Gross, aged 13, sun cl Air IT. O. Gross, farmer, of Himiera.
The boy, who was a pupil of tho Alatamaia Junior High School, \.as feraud dead at his home on Saturday morning, a pea-rifle beside the body. According to the evidence, the. boy's father set him a small task on 'Saturday morning, and on hit, refusing to perform it the rather chastised him slightly. The buy returned to the house and informed his mother that he would not do tho work. He then went out. After the mother had left the house to go to Rinuera, the, boy. who was of a temperamental nature, returned to the dwelling, obtained hu father'-,; .22 calibre rifle and a cartridge, went in the study, which Tic used as a bedroom, and shot himself. Tie was discovered on the bed by his older brother shortly afterwards. Tlie rifle butt wa<? standing on the floor.
