The AVaipiro Bay Tennis Club’s annual tourney, with its attendant social festivities, is always keenly anticipated, and this year’s fixture was quite as successful as its predecessors. The round of gaieties included a very delightful dance held under the auspices of the East Coast Cricket Association in the Te Puia Hall on Tuesday night.

There was a largo attendance, and as no detail had been overlooked in tiio preparations for the occasion by i ae energetic promoters complete success crowned their efforts. A. A SPORTS DANCE. ■ Although the Ormond Spoi'ls Club postponed its annual meeting on Tuesday owing to the inclement weather, the dnnee arranged for the evening was held under the most auspicious conditions. The guests numbered 250, and both Gisborne and the surrounding districts were well represented. The local hall was completely transformed for the neon sin n, a simple hut effective decorative scheme being artistically carried out with Rally coloured streamers and a profusion °i greenery. The same taste was displayed in the adornment of the supper-room, while seasonal blooms beautified the obnrmingly-arvaaged tables. The duties of M.’sO. were, as usual, most efficiently undertaken b.v Messrs. C. Howie and It. Wilkinson, anil Stuart Sheet's "Rhythm Boys-’ orchestra supplied the up-to-date music. Misses T. Howie and I». Ruru and Mr. Barsdeu contributed much-enjoy-ed extras.
