Mrs. 0. C. Mackay. iho only surviving sister of the late P. t. Hon. Diehard John Beddon. died at "Westport recently, aged 75 years.

The retirement from the Bench of Mr. It. AV. Tate,. P.AL. of New Plymouth, will take place shortly. The appointment of Mr. W. IT. Woodward S.AL, to New Plymouth, was announced a fortnight ago. The Mon. Adam Hamilton has not yet recovered from the severe cold ho reeentlv contracted and is still confined to his home. As a result it has been found necessary to postpone for the time being his departure for "Wellington.—P.A. Snh-Tnspector T. Gibson, of Auckland. has been promoted to Inspector at Invercargill in succession to the late Inspector P. J. McCarthy. Commissioner Wchlmaiui says that the successor to Air. Gibson in Auckland has not vet been chosen. P.A.

Privaie advice has been received i u Cisborue to the effect, that "Brother Remigius recently principal of the Alarist Brothers’ School in Gisborne, is to take up an appointment as subdirector of Sacred Heart College, Auckland, with. the. beginning of the now school year. He is to be succeeded here by Brother Egbert, who prior to a. recent visit to Ireland, was on the staff of the Sacred Heart College.
