•'Many of the so-called l>riglit young people of to-day have ncvei really grown up* They live playing on the threshold of life with simple, infantile minds.” This indictment of certain, phases of modern life wan made by Dr. Elizabeth Sloan Chesser when discussing parents’ problems with Mayfair mothers at the Mayfair Hotel, London. "So many people,” she went on, "are trying to escape from life. Some cannot hear to he alone to think. Some spend their time day dreaming. Others,” she added, "are always working, or occupying themselves by talking feverishly, reading, gardening, golfing, or playing bridge and incessantly meeting people as distracted as themselves. They, will do anything, in fact, to avoid thinking in case they are disappointed with life and with themselves." ■* ; ” .
