At the wool sales, 6278 .bales were offered, including 1864 from New Zealand, aiid about 4647 were sold. There was a miscellaneous offering, but a good general demand, late rates being maintained New Zealand sales: Greasy merino, Glynmvye, 9d, 8R1 : halfbred lambs, slipe 111 cl, 9|d. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office dated 14th instant; “The sales closed firmly to-day. There is good all round competition. As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are higher id per lb. for merino and crossbred lambs, medium and coarse crossbred greasy medium and coarse crossbred scoured. GISBORNE WOOL ODDMENT AND SKIN SALE The first of the series of local sales which have been allocated to Gisborne was field on Wednesday. There was a fair attendance of buyers and some good catalogues of wool, skins, aiid hides wore offered. Good lines or crutchings were scarce and the bulk of the wool offered comprised .second and seedy crutchings, secofid pieces and locks. A few star hales of fleece wools were offered and the prices realised were particularly good, considering -that most of the lines were straggler fleece, unskirted and of mixed" qualities.
