Oct. 11. ’J'hcre was an exceptionally lai- s „ yarding of cattle both fat and store, totalling 2000 hea'd, at the weekly Waipukurau sale. Prices for sheep •showed a slight decline on last week’s rates, but cattle sold at prices consistent with those ruling of lafe in Central Hawke’s Bay. Passings wero few, except for store cattle. At tho wool sales 7933 bales were offered, including 3176 bales from Now Zealand, and about 3771 were sold. There was good Yorkshire and Continental competition, and opening rates were firmly maintained. New Zealand sales: Greasy crossbred. DCD, 7.1 d; halfbred lambs, elipes, Waitaki, 123 d. Compared with September, 1931. the prinepial decreases in .imports were- Grain and flour, £739.000: meat! £914.000; animals for food, £957.000: wood and timber, £692,* 000; iron and steel and manufactures thereof. £967,000; cotton yarns and manufactures, £697.000: woollen ditto. £1.150,000: apparel, £1,383.000: vehicles, £606,000.
