DUNEDIN BISHOP’S COMMENT
METHODISTS AND ANGLICANS,
The movement towards unity among the Christian churches was discussed by Bishop Richards in his address to the third session of the twenty-second Synod of the diocese of Dunedin.
“With thankfulness to God we note that the movement towards Christian unity is growing and in some directions is taking practical shape,” said the bishop. “In England there has boon consummated recently a reunion, of the Wesleyan. Methodist Chuirch, the Primitive Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Church, thus marking the ond of sectional Methodism in England, and a new beginning of all sections in one Wesleyan Churelm Is it prophetic of future development that after reunion had been deckled upon the conference, including its president, attended service on the following Sunday in Manchester Cathedral, to which the ' president was welcomed by the bishop? “During last year also there .lias been a notable advance towards reunion both of the 1 ortlidox Eastern Church and of old Catholic's respectively with th© Church of England. No,b only will union lie a source of strength to the churches immediately concerned, hut it indicates a ' way of approach towards the attainment of that unity for which our Lord .prayed.” : " ; '
