PILLOW-CASE HOARD
RAG AND BONE DEALER’S FIND.
Sorting out a miscellaneous collection in his marine store yard, MrHarry James, rag and bemo dealer, of Hounslow, Middlesex, recently I’oulid £297 in notes. "f put my baud in a pillow-case.” Mr. James said, “and on drawing it out was astonished to find it lull of notes. I f'ok the notes to the police station, where they were counted. There were- 48 :Co notes and the remainder in C.l and J.(Js notes. f-[ Jnid collected at only two places during the day, and the police found that the money bad come from the second place, though it’was some time before the lady there could bring to mind that she had lost "the money. The police were satisfied however, that she was the rigbtlul owner and she gave me £5.” Mrs, jame's, the wife, stated“l was awaiting my Jiusbands’s return in order to buy some food Jw the children. I had not gob n penny" or' a crust of bread in the bouse;'My husband then came in and gave mo three £1 notes.” . Mr. James added: “I gave ihy- wife another £1 the next day and kept tiro remaining £1 to buy a'pair of boots. J. have always believed in the motto that honesty is the best policy.” '■ ' 1 1 11
