Of this amount ho spent £5 on newspaper advertising lor next day's business and kept 3e 9jd in the till for change. He maintained that general policy, and built up America’s great retail business. John Wanamaker was the biggest retail advertiser in the world. Most of the successful retailers in America built their businesses on their policy of putting all their profits back into advertising during the early days of their growth., using principally the “family” newspapers.
