GISBORNE BOARD MEETING,

Meeting yesterday lor tbo first tune in 1932, the Gisborne Land 'Board was presided over by Mr. J. 11. Read, in the absence of the Commissioner, Mr. H. L. Primrose, and also present were Messrs R. K. W ickstoed G. O. Donovan and A. G. Nolan. The business dealt with included the following matters: — Application for land.-—Section 3, block XIII, Taramarama S.D., 754 ac. applied for a renewal lease by June Ross and Francis Gamble; Ihe application was on condition that no financial assistance was asked for. Cancellation of grazing rights,— A. R. Small applied to surrender his grazing rights over the larger block of Brown and Wood’s property, sections 456 and 477, Waiotahi parish: The determination, of the temporary tenancy was confirmed, as from December 11, 1931. Expiry of miscellaneous license.— The miscellaneous tenancy held by tiie ’Opotiki County Council over section' da, suburb; of Qpotiki, will expire on A[arcli 21, and the board ivas asked to consider granting a further term of occupation: It mas resolved to offer the council a year-to-year tenancy over the area at an annual rental of £3 subject.to the discretion of the hoard.

Forfeiture •at . request.—Messrs. Slialfoon Bros, .lessees of lot 1 of section 2,. block VJII, YVaimana S.D., 336 ac 3r., -asked to be allowed to surrender their lease: It was resolved to adjourn the matter, and to suggest that the lessees should carry on provided the rent mas remitted for three years. Cancellation of temporary tenancy. —The hoard mas asked to cancel the temporary tenancy of B. McClutchje over part of the Mangaroa block, this area having been included in the Crown’s purchase: It : was resolved that the tenancy should be determined. Arrears of rales.—The clerk of tho ITawa Countv Council submitted a list of the Crown tenants mho were in arrears with their rates, requesting the assistance of tho hoard in the matter of collecting the amounts outstanding: It was resolved that tho settlers should ho written to. Cases of forfeiture in connection with sections in the' Ardkeen settlement, Waioeka S.D., and Monnui were submitted for further consideration, and in each of; the three eases it was resolved that the license or leases should bo declared forfeited. Schedules of “thirds” for the period ended November 30, 1931. were submitted hr the Opotiki, Walapu, .Waikohu and Mntakaeji CquiitV councils, and in each case tho schedule was approved. . t
