TREASURE CAVE
QUEEN OF SHEBA’S MINES? GAME HUNTER’S FIND. Have the Queen of Sheba’s treasure mines been found? Air. Frank Ilayter, the big game hunter, has returned to England from Central Africa with the claim that he has located one of them. From a cavern hidden in.unexplored country 320 miles due west of Addis Ababa, Air. Havter has brought back uncut rubies, diamonds, platinum and gold. “I am sure it is one of the- caverns from which the Queen of Sheba drew her great wealth,” said AD. Hayter. “I am going off to Abyssinia again in a few months’ time.” Describing his discovery, Air. Hayter said he followed a rough path and came to the margin of a tiny stream, which disappeared through a rift in a wall of rock. “We squeezed through the aperture into which the stream disappeared arid at last wo were inside and resting on a flat bed of rock. “When mv eyes became accustomed to the darkness I saw .. hundreds of tiny spots of red light twinkling in tho candle flame. “I pointed my torch, and what a surprise wo had! As the beam illuminated the old gallery, myriads of pin-points of red light made the floor appear as if someone had scattered a great brazier of red hot ashes at our feet. “I picked, a small pebble up to examine it, and it was not until that' moment I had the faintest suspicion that these pebbles were, precious stones, and that I had stumbled on a hoard of uncut rubies.” Air. .Hayter said he saw ancient carving on the walls and on either side were entrances to other galleries. In these galleries lie found a lot of dull stones which he thought were interior rubies, but which were later found to be rose diamonds of the first water.
