At a Poplar (London) inquest recently touching the death of a waterside worker, 'it transpired that, deceased was- quietly smoking his pipe by the kitchen fire after tea when he suddenly collapsed and 'died. It appeared that ho was a heavy smoker, and habitually used a brand of American tobacco 'which the doctor who made the post-mortem described as containing.a high percentage of nicotine, and the constant smoking, of which, he said, had doubtless affected the heart in the course of years..
