During the month of October five moil were admitted to tho. Memorial Homo ;ono man and .one woman were discharged, and one man died, leaving GO iniiuites at the Home at the end of tho month—nine women and 51 men.. The usual visits were -paid by tho Salvation Army Band, and the different denominations, the inmates appreciating their kindly thought in’ coming so consistently. Tho "following gifts were received and acknowledged with thanks: Bundle of Australian papers. Airs. D. Blair; bound books. Airs. Gault and Cook Hospital. Vegetables to tlio amount of £lO lGs Gd and 80} dozen eggs; (valued at £3 12s Id) were supplied to Cook Hospital during the month. Tlio following gifts received during the month of October are acknowledged with thanks by tlio lady superintendent of Cook Hospital : Two silver cups-for coni petition by the nurses’ tennis club, Air. W. Barriugtou-Alil-lor, per Air. Tatersall; vegetables, Airs. Rua Tautau; scones, Anonymous ; flowers, Airs. Stewart; flowers, Airs. Cr. Evans; show tickets, P.B. A. and P. Association; race tickets. P.B. Turf Club; books. Airs. Heasley. The Salvation Army Band gave its usual enjoyablo performance during tho month.
