Tho New York Times S»o Pauli* correspondent states: “Bert Hinkler was On route to Buenos Aires via Rio Janeiro when lie was urresled by tbo authorities. After landing outside Fort Alcza this morning, tho police surrounded his piano and demanded his visa and authorisation to fly over Brazilian territory, whick ho did not have. Ho was taken into* custody immediately and the piano was held for the State. Hinkler appealed to Hie British colony at Fort Aleza for aid, ultimately interesting the officials of the Booth Steamship Line, who saw the (British Consul. The latter arranged a visa and requested tho authorities to releases him. which they declined to -'o. Tho consul, however, jis confident that liis release will bo effected within 48 hours.
