While repairs were being effected at tbc Temuka swimming bath last week, the contractor discovered that one side of tho bath was longer than the other, showing a difference of eight and a-lialf inches. "At first it was thought that there must he some mistake, but a further measurement left no room for doubt. Speculation is now rife among swimming enthusiasts as to how many “touch” victories have been secured, because of the slanting of the line. Worked out in simple proportion. this would mean that in a race of a hundred yards a competitor on the northern side would have to cover nearly a yard more than his rival on the opposite side. As the baths have, now been in existence for some years it would seem that many contestants. have not had a square deal. The present contractor will rectify this old-time error, which, strange to say, has not been discovered till now.
