Larry Gains, a colored Canadian, knocked out Phil Scott in the second round, after being down for nine seconds, at Leicester. Forty thousand were presenj. The. majority hooted Scott’s poor showing. The winner is promised a chance of fighting Camera. FRIDAY NIGHT’S TOURNEY The G.B.A. has its opening nament of the season on Friday night at, the Opera House. As previously, the Association is. catering solely for its amateur boxers and, with that in view, is starring the two local cracks, 'Reg Gregory and Joe Franklin. Tho opponents chosen for those two are Binnie, of: Napier, and Spragg, of Auckland. Both these, honts will be over six rounds. Also on the programme will lie the balance, of the pick of the local amateurs, as well as some boys who are making their first appearance in the square ring. Thq association has training rooms in Lysnar’s buildings and there most of the contestants can ho seen every, night. The public- are. cordially invited to watch the training operations.
