MUNICIPAL BAND WOUND UP

{Special to Ihe Times.l OPOTIKJ, Feb. 20. A meeting of supporters of the Opotiki Municipal Band was held last night, Mr. C. Pipe being in the chair. There was a good attendance. Alter discussion the meeting resolved to wind up the band, and hand the as. sets over to the newly-formed boys’ band, which now has 11 members, but it is confidently expected to increase to 28, when the surplus from the Queen Carnival is handed, over. Mr. t\. Stevens was elected conductor, and i'(j. Johnson secretary, with a strong committee. A meeting; of the carnival committee will he held next week, when a decision will be made as to the closing date of the carnival, and the date of the coronation of. the successful queen.
