A lecture recital • entitled ‘Old English Gong” will occupy the major portion of 2YA’s programme this evenin". Tlm speaker will bo Mrs Daisy Basham and she will he assisted by the Ariel Singer. In keeping with the theme of the lecture, the Orcliestrina. lias an excellent programme of instrumental music. With “Old Glory,” the Christchurch Municipal Band under Conductor J. Noble will open 3YA’s programme. Other numbers will be a selection “Kni"ht Errant,”, a group of communtiv songs, tlie liymn “Nearer My God to Thee,” the fantasia “Nonnanhnrst’ a foxtrot and the march Old Mobility ” i popular vocal programme will supplement the band items, the vocalists being. Mrs. F. C. Vauglian (soprano), Mrs Rhys Morgan (mezzocontralto, Mr Oliver Foote (tenor) and Mr. A. E. Hobbs (baritone). The Kenz Orplieans, playing popular melodies, will supply the basis of 4YA’s programme. The vocalists will be Miss D. Youd. (soprano). Miss M. Somerville (contralto), Mr. J. B. Hamjlton (tenor) and Mr. K. B. McDonald (bass), with elocutionary items by Miss Jsobel M’Gregor. A trumpet solo will be. contributed by AD. VTate and a banjo solo by Mr. M. Neil. Silent day at IYA.
