VATICAN CITY TO HAVE ITS OWN MONEY-
POPE PROMULGATES AUTHORISATION LAW-

The Times. Rome, correspondent says that the Pope has promulgated a law authorising his own coinage, including one hundred lire gold pieces, of which the number is unlimited, hut only £IO,OOO worth of silver, nickel and copper coins will he Issued in; 1931. The gold pieces will bear the Pope’s bust you the obverse, and the figure “Christ the King” with sceptre and orb, on the reverse. Thq silver ten lire and ‘ five lire pieces will show the Pope’s bust with the Virgin “Queen of Peace”, and St. Peter steering ;the Ship of the Church respectively. The -majority of the remainder of the coins bear the Papal arms, and the figures of the Good Shepherd, and St. Michael, 'St-. ! Peter and St. Paul. All are negotiable througout Italy. A. special issue date.d 1929 is appearing to commemorate te Papal Jubilee and the Italian treaty recognising the; Papal State, the sale of which is calculated to bring in £13,000.
