SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD
RETURN FROM THE CRAVE
A man who appeared in the Leeds Police Court a few weeks ago is supposed to he dead, and must remain so officially, for the time being. He is, Herbert Morlev—also known jiy Gibbons —and ulitil the coroner receives the Registrar-General’s consent to alter a death certificate he is “dead”. Morlev. aged i3O. a hawker, was charged with stealing apples. He- was remanded on hail.
The police stated that Morlev was supposed to have been killed’ last. August. On Sunday when hawking collar studs in Leeds he made a dramatic return from “the grave", when lie called at his brother’s house. His brother Ernest had at an inquest in August identified the body of a man killed by a motor-ear as that of his brother. The body was also identified as thatof her husband by Mrs. Minnie Morley, of Rockwood Mount, the accused man’s wife. He had been separated from her for IS years. When Morlev was told hv his brother that- he was supposed to he dead he expressed surprise, and said it was ‘‘the first news ho had had of the fact.”
