Rain fell just before the com-mencement,-and at came down very hqavily prior to the running of tho Grandstand Handicap, but cleared shortly afterwards. In _ consequence the going became holding, hut improved as the programme progressod. During tho day the sum of £56,02.3 10s was put through the tote, compared with £84,761 10s, a de>crease of £28,738. This made tho to-, tal for the meeting £282,558 against £3-52,463, a decrease of £69,878. ’ ■ Teriakoe, who won tho final race yesterday, was ridden by 11. Gray 'in tho Goodwood Handicap, which opened the programme to-day. He was made a. good favorite, carrying £IO7O, tho next best supported being Goshawk (£871), arid Love Song ■ (£790.-) -Flying Prince was one of the outsiders with £202 on his chance. When the field jumped off, Tenakoe and Flving Prince, were the quickest to show out, with Envoy, Rove Song, Grand Tea. Vertigem, VEaglet, and Titree following. Llanore then ran through fast and across the top was in front, with Tenakoe following. Then came Plying Prince, Love Song, Vertigem', and Grand Tea. Four withdrawals left a field of 14 to. line up for the Grandstand ...Handicap. Hunting Cry was made a solid favorite, .carrying £2229. He never got in'tlio picture and was always near the tail of the field once the Larses had ! properly settled down. The.winner was the second favorite, Oorinax, (£1210). while Silvermine was-third fancy with £767. Lucy Rose, who. mished second, carried £SOB. Passing the stand the first time Lucy Rose was showing in front from Silvermine, Eagdr Rose, Corinax, Hunting Cry, Mossne, and Jaloux, while My Own was pulled up and did not eontiniie in the race. Mosque was in front and was well clear turning, into the straight from Silvermine, Lucv Rose, Eager Rose and Gorin, ax. In the straight Gay Cockadce looked like seeing it out, hut both Corinax and Lucy Rose threw on, challenges. In a. great finish Corinax got the decision by a neck from Lucy Rose with' Gay Cockade a neck awav. Silvermine was fourth, followed by Spearmiss, Count Palatine. ; There was a surprise in the Auckland Hurdles when the little fancied Master Lu, who carried < nlv out of a, good pool, came along' at tho end and downed the favorite Ltiminaxv, who was hacked to tftq extent of £1404. The second, favorite was Clnremoro. £789. while Star Comet carried £786. 4\nko King and Kairari went- out at the first where both fell. The others jumped well, but were soon sprung out. -When the stand was reached Mashoor was leading Luminary, Dark 'Prince, Dav Lass, St. Ames, . Star Comet, Master Lu and Claremore m that order. At the first fence along the hack,' St. Ames made a bad jump and was nearly down. Luminary had then taken .charge from Dark Princej Mashoor, -Day Lass, Star Comet, Master Lu, and St. Ames, with Claremoire a long way hack from the leader. Day Lass came down at tho second fence troin home, and Star Comet fell on the flat after .-getting over the same hurdi/e. Luminary led into the straight from Master Lu, who had moved up smartly, followed by Dark Princo and Mashoor. ‘ln the run to the iudge Luminary tired and Master Lu iheaded him to go on to wm by five lengths. Mashoor was onlv a peek behind Luminary, with Dark 'Prince fojirth, followed b-y lOlslremoro and .St. Ames.

Nino scratchings left a field of seven to go to the post for the Royal Stakes. In a fine betting race, Ammon Ra .was favorite, carrying £l9Bl. La Poupee carried £1729 and Movie Star £1306. Movie Star and Princess' Bede were, quickest awav from Ukley, Gay Court , Aspian, Ammon Ra and La Poupee. Across the top, Aspian and Movie Star were together in the lead from Gay Court Princess Bede, La Poupee, Ammon Ra and Ilkloy. Into the straight, Aspian had the advantage over Movie Star and Gay Court, who were together with Ammon Ra and La Poupeo together next. A great <racc home between Ammon Ra. and La.
