ADVENTUROUS TRIP
WELLINGTON YACHT' ARRIVES AT CHATHAM.
MAN SWEPT OVERBOARD, BUT- ' RESCUED.
(Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. ' Wireless news lias been received that the Wellington yacht Windward arrived safely at the Chatham Islands at 4 p.m. yesterday from Wellington, whence she sailed at 9 o’clock- on Christmas morning. The message reported: “All well.” The crew of the Windward comprises Messrs P.' P. Rollings, C. Steele, Don Graham, and A. H. Irwin. The Windward is the smallest yacht that has yet made the trip from Wellington to the Chathams. According to private advice, the Windward was hove-to in a gale for 12 hours, and on Wednesday the seas carried away the main sheet and topping lifts, freeing the main boom which broke loose and carried a man overboard. He was promptly rescued and the boat again hove-to for three hours while repairs were effected.
