Two meh believed to ibe 1 brothers named Osborne, of T Palmerston North, were killed (when . their car fell:;250 feet* from the Napiqr-Wairoa road at the'Devil’s'Elbow. ■■■>■■■ ; The eacr''was;:coming from Wairoa on the wrong side of the road- and it mst a service car going down in the opposite direction.
The Osboitries’ car swerved sharply to gain the correct side of. t-hq road and just grazed the. service car-and went overi the! side of the road down the very steep bank.
The bodies were brought into Napier late to-night.

In connection , with ' "the motor fatalities on : Devil’s'?Elbow It' "appears that the brothers Osborne were in . a closed in car en route towards Napier. At about 7.15 p.m. a Duco service car from Napier en route* to connect,.. rap, at' Wairoa with - the contimiatioii service to Gisborne, was ort eping round’, the ' corner hugging the bank when the Osbornes’ car was sighted on its wrong side. Ho was unconscious, ( groaning and bleeding from the mouth And from' head injuries.. It was beyond Mrs* Grants power to aid him. The other victim, it is undestood must, have .heert .killed outright. " *“ '"• „.' • Within a "short period a Wlut© Star car, one of Whitfield’? cars and the night-mail lorry also reached the scene and rendered valuable; assistance. The car involved m the tragedy was badly smashed.
The news of the terrible mishap will come as a great shook- to many residents of Gisborne who were acquainted with the two victims-—. Messrs Bernard and' .Wilfred '■ Osborne, residents of Palmerston North- Both were single and had been on a motor tour, embracing Gisbortoe, where two sisters reside —Mrs L. Evans, of Fox St., - -and Mrs J. A. Price, of Stout St. Leaving’home last,•Wednesday week, the unfortunate men went on to Taupo and they arrived in Gisborne last Wednesday. After . staying . here a couple of days, they left yesterday for home. Much sympathy will be extended to their relatives.
