FATAL AIR MISHAP
PILOT AND REPORTER KILLED “STAR OF CAIRNS” NOSE-DIVES

The monoplane ‘ f Star of Cairns” was leaving Maryborough for Brisbane when it nose-dived and struck the ground with terrific force. Tho pilot;. (B. P. Davidson) was killed instantly, and the passegor, Henry Higgins, fatally injured. The mechanic. William Headland, was badly injured. The monoplane had come \ from Bundaherg, with one engine causing trouble. Repairs were effected, but the engines seemed slow to warm up. for a. fresh start. Finally, the pilot made a good takeoff, Hit, apparently, one engine stalled after going a. few hundred yards. The pilot was a son of Vice-Admir-al Davidson and saw service .in the naval air force. Higgins was a re. porter on tho Townsville Bulletin.
