Evidence of the acuteness of political feeling in Calcutta is furnished by the action of Dr. Urquhart, principal of the Scottish Church College, who has written to the Viceroy and Lady Irwin requesting them to abandori tlieir engagement to attend the forthcoming college centenary celebrations as information has been received that “an attempt emanating from outside sources will be made to mar the harmony of the proceedings on the occasion of your visit.”'
