The police were attacked twice this week 'by villagers in the Saran dis-r.ric-t of Bihar and Orissa while assisting in collecting taxes, and were compelled to fire to disperse ’a mob ot several thousands, armed witn spears, wbo surrounded them. One. rioter was killed and several injifred, while constables and horses were hurt.
