TAR-DtfcU MINISTRY “ DEFEATED
(U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright.) (Received Dee.' 5. 11 P- m -) PARIS. Dec, a
The fall tof the Tardieit Governniout on a vote of 147 to 139' was unexpected, as it was believed that M. Poincare’s support would suffice to gain a small but sufficient majority against the, Radical-Socalist attackfirs. 'M. Poincare and M. Caiillaux voted for the Government, though it was noteworthy that neither intervened -in the. debate.
M. Tnrdieu’s opponents made considerable play in regard to the losses recently caused small investors, particularly the Ou'stric affair, and denounced the Government''s educational policy. They hinted that its Republicanism was rather weak. M. Tardieu! in a spirited reply, admitted that a world economic crisis existed, but claimed, by' comparison, with other countries, that. France a, decline in luxury trades and t-ouv-was cutting a good figure. Nevertheless, there were weak points, such as ist .traffic. M. Briand and Mi Poincare have since intimated their unwillingness to accept the Premiership. De Ladier, leader of the Radical-Socialists, is mentioned as a- possible Premier. M. Cheron Laval is. also supported. The crisis threatens to be long and difClllt.
