LONDON, Sedt. 30. An intriguing political situation has arisen out of the South Paddington by-election. Lord Beavcrbrooks Empire Free Trade Party threatened to run its own candidate unless the prospective Conservative candidate. Sir Herbert- indie rd. swallowed the whole programme Sir Herbert Daly was adopted at a lively meeting, whereat his answers were considered so satisiaeiory - that there could be no question of running an Empire Free Trade rival. Sir Herbert, however. did not satisfy the United Empire Party, wherewith Leri! Rotlievnmre is associated and it adopted Alr<. Stewart lli'-liiir.lsun. Meantime. Mr. Xevdie Chani i -*e rlain. chairman of the Conservative Pavtv. has written to 'sir H.
