BLIND WONDER BOY

POSSESSES SIXTH SENSE.

SYDNEY. Sept. 11

There is a. blind boy m Sydney 'who has completely battled medical specialists. He *• is Edward Collins, aged 1.9, who lost his sight when ho was a baby in arms, but he seems to have developed a sixth sense, and seems to bo able to “see’’ almost as well as those who are endowed with Nature's greatest gift.. Collins is one of the regular patrons at the boxing stadiums of the city, and his total blindness does not prevent him from “seeing” every blow that is struck. JU is said of him tha t after visiting a boxmg match he will describe to his father the details of the light, giving an almost blow for blow description, of 'the contest.- Specialists are unable to say how he lias managed to overcome! this groat disability. ■ So sure is Collins of his sense .of sound and direction that he is able to ride a- bicycle in the busy streets of the city, and to obey the signa’s of the traffic policemen . at- that. .He says that lie knows instinctively when danger is near, and to date lie lias certainly proved it, ior lie has met with but'one accident- due to Ids. lack of sight. That was when lie was carrying home some gramophone records. There, was nothing to indicate to" him that a manhole in t-no street was open, and he went headlong'into it., He injured his knee, but that did not worry, him. He was more concerned over the loss of the records, for lie is passionately fond of classical music. He has mastered the accordion, and he is now lamenting the loss of that instrument by theft. . . •v:\Vheh two of his country tnonds came to town, bovs blessed with then, sight, it- was Collins who-, showed them, round the city, lie pointed out the sights which he could not see himself. But there are few people who know the. city hotter than Collins, and when lie goes- out he is usually alone-.-: ■■ : • V' ; i .*
