WAIROA SUPPORTS GISBORNE NEED FOR SPEEDY COMPLEX TTON A hurriedly-arranged meeting was held on Tuesday last, when representatives of the Wairo’a Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce and County Council discussed the railway question. It was decided that’owing to tho. short notice, it would be impossible for representatives to go to, Gisborne or Wellington. The local arguments in favor of speedily completing the East Coast railway right through to Gisborne were summarised and each of the three bodies concerned are writing to Mr W. D. Lysnar. member for the district, to appear before the Commission and present the cnye for this district.— Star.
No definite date lias yet been settled lor the departure, of the deputation of local body representatives, appointed to visit Wellington to give evidence, in support of the continuing the construction of the Gisborne Napier railway, before the Select Commictoe of Parliament on railways under construction. Mr. «*W. D. Lvsnar, M.P., was advised of the decision reached at Thursday’s conference and iio was also asked to suggest-a suitable date for tho deputation to appear before the committee.-. The Mayor. Air. D. W. Coleman, who will bead the deputation, received a reply from Air. Lysnar on Saturday to the effect that it,would he impossible to fixe a date until after file SelectCommittee meets to-morrow (Tuesday.
