Mr. Howard Humphreys, now in business in Dunedin, is at present re-visiting Gisborne, and. together with Airs. Humphreys, is the guest of Air. Geo. Holmes at Kaiti Beach. Sincere sympathy will be extended tq_Detective J. McLeod, of the Gisborne police force, in the death of Uis father, Mr. William. McLeod, which occurred at Alorrinsville on Friday. Deceased, who was 82 years of age, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and came out to New Zetland in 1874, settling in Dunedin. Until rour years ago the late Air. McLeod was, farming in the South Island, managing stations in Otago and Canterbury, and in 1924, he came to the North Island to take up farming with one of his sons ai Aforrinsville. 'Deceased leaves one dux ghter, Mrs. Henwood, of Waerenga. near McrrinsvfUe. and six sons, Messrs. Alexander ' AlcLeod (Canterbury), William AlcLeod (Hawke’s Bay). Neil McLeod (Taranaki), James AkLeod (San Francisco). Donald AlcLeod LMorrinsville), and John McLeod (Gisborne)
