INTEREST CENTRES IN DOUBTS'ILL SEATS. United Press Assn. by El. Tel. Copyright (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY. Nov. 23. Political interest is now focussed On tile five doubtful seats fit the House of Representatives. namely laerliert and Kennedy, Queensland; l -oothby. South Australia; Franklin and Denison, Tasmania. The present indications are that Government candidates will win three and Labor two, the absentee votes, which are now being counted, favoring the retiring members in each instance. It is noteworthy that these particular electorates invariably provide neck and neck tussles with a mere handful of votes separating the candidates at the finish.
Pile present state of the parties tor the House of Representatives is as follows: i Nationalist ... 29 Country Party 14 Labor 27 Doubtful 5
Counting for the Senate is still proceeding. The prospects are that Labor will win front the Government three seats each in New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland, a total of nine, but the issue in Victoria and Western Australia is still doubtful.

Encouraged by the result of the Federal election, the Australian Labor Party ha,a endorsed 500 candidates as Labor representatives at the municipal elections in Nbw South Wales on December 1. This is the first occasion on which a concerted attempt has been made to'contest elections for all councils and shires throughout the country*. '
