Cr. Hovell advised that. Mr. Mullooly’s grounds of complaint of tile draining of waters on to his slaughterhouse property were now well founded, consequent to the action of J. Brown in diverting the -Waikovere stream and causing its waters to flow and lodge on • 'the- road aria slaughterhouse property, and recommend that Mr. Brown be forthwith .required to redivert the strearii so as to cause it to flow on its old course and fill in the cut made by him, whereupon the matter was discussed and the clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Brown in accordance with Cr. Cr. Wood advised of minor requirements *to certain parts of the Hick s Bav-Whangaparaoa road between Hick’s Bay and Mr. McGuire’s, whereupon the chairman advised that same would be attended to. Cr Cowan made further representations towards having the council meet Mr. Mullooly’s request for a roadway to his Tokata property, and "that the council take the required land under “The Pub ic Works Act,” whereupon it was decided that the Council could not entertain the suggestion and that theengineer investigate the existmroad Mne and report as to- its teasibleness at the next meeting. Cr. Cowan asked that the. lay mu off of the works to be carried out under the grants available for the Turangakautuku road be undertaken as soon as possible and was advised by the■ Chairman that tin works wuuld be put m hand at the first opportunity. The chairman advised that surfaceman Evans could work to much greater advantage with a grader, whereupon the matter was discussed and the- engineer was instructed to have the drag altered to take the place of a grader and sent to Evans. Cr. Wood advised that Mr. Ryder was desirous of having certain small improvements effected to the Wlmre- - kaliika stock track, whereupon the chairman replied that he would liavo the engineer attend to requirements. Cr. Hovell pointed out that the road between the Te Araroa township and, the junction of the. Hick’s Bay road was ,in a very had state of disrepair, : whereupon the chairman advised that provision was being made for the necessary improvements. Accounts amounting to £999 7s 5d were passed for payment.
