“SORRELL AND SON.”
“Sorrell and Son,” the best selling novel xvhich has been Aimed by Herbert Brenon under the Joseph M. Schenck banner for United Artists, lias its locale in England. Therefore, it xvas in keeping xvith tho spirit of the story that the director of “Peter Pan,” “Beau Geste” and other successes should select British-born players for many of the important roles. Many of the scenes also were filmed in England. Tht film opens at a matinee, next Monday at the Opera House. Tho author, Warwick Deeping, is an Englishman, and the story tells of tho heart-breaking experiences of an - English,-gentleman xvhen he tries to gather up the broken threads of his life after the War. The leading role, that of “Sorrell,” is enacted by 11. B. Warner, who xvas born in London. His father. Charles . Warner, was a celebrated English actor. H.'B. Warner came to the United in 1905 and at once made for himself an enxdable place on the American stage. His wife, Rita Staiixvood, xvas on the stage before their marriage. Another Britisher in the cast is Norman Trevor, who vivas born in Calcutta, India, the scion of a prominent English family. Trevor started life as a tea planter, later turning his attention to athletics. Hie xvas axvarded a medal in Paris as an entrant in the Olympic Games. He xvent upon the stage in London over liis aristocratic father’s protest. When he came to America he xvas at once pronounced successful.
