The Lora Mayor’s Show which today marks the ■ > commencement * ox the year of office of Sir Kynaston Studd, took place' in bright sunshine and attracted immense crowds to the streets through which the procession passed. The route was gaily decorated and siome banners stretched across the' road heralded the fact that Sir-Kynaston . Studd was once a famous cricketer. Among the features of the'show, which was one of the most ; notable of recent years, were medieval craftsmen at work on gold. and. silver, as in tlio,days of Queen Elizabeth. and also tables illustrating the development of . the printing industry from the seventeenth century, and of the development of .industrial., welfare work, contrasting the conditions . of to-day , iwitli’those of,‘a century ago. : " Included in,thp procession was one of. the first machine guns used in the British' Army, a Nordenfeldt. It was, accompanied, by a' detachment of the London Regiment, - . « ' ft'
