LABOR LAND PLATFORM OF 1925. WHAT MR. PEARSON TOLD MR. LYSNAR. “Are you aware that the Labor policy is revised every yearf” asked Mr. S. J. Pearson at Mr. Lvsnar’s. mooting at .Kaiti on Thursday night. “No, I did not know that,” answered Air. Lysnar. “I have quoted from the 1925 Labor Party hook, after the ninth conference. Surely they had settled on their programme after nine years? (Laughter). I got my copy of the platform from a friend in the House.” “I can give you dozens of copies,” remarked Mr. Pearson. Mr. Lysnar: “Jf my Labor friend Air. Pearson sprang- to his feet and declared with great emphasis: “Allow me to state publicly, here and now, that I am not a member of the Labor Party.” . “Allow me to congratulate you.” answered Mr. Lysnar, “but all the same when you stand up and sit alongside Mr. Bickford.” (The rest of. the candidate’s remark was lost in a burst of laughter.) “Let me tell you,” . added Mr. Pearson,/ “that the copy of the Labor platform you’re quoting from is a mis-print and has been withdrawn. “Through the State” instead of “to the State” should be read in the section dealing with land transfers.” “If that is so, it shows -the inconsistency of the .Labor Party,” remarked Mr. Lysnar, smilingly.
