A LABOR BOOKLET.
MR. L.YSNIAR AND THE EXTREMISTS.
STORMY SCENE AT KATTT MEETING. There was a stormy scene at Kaiti on Thursday night when, Mr Lysnar 'proceeded to quote _ from a booklet containing the official .Labor platform. He first asked the chairman to verify that it was actually printed by the Labor Party. This did not satisfy a section of the meeting, who wished to examine it for .themselves, but. under the chairman’s rebuke that surely his word was sufficient, they finally desisted 'from their claims. Mr C. E, Bickford then demanded the date of the booklet and threatened to hold up the meeting until this was given. Mr Lysnar, after replying that the date was 1925, began to quote from 'it when Mr Bickford objected: “It's three years old. Don’t you know (another conference was held last ’Easter ?” “This is good enough for me,” answered Mr Lysnar. “No doubt! No doubt!" came from the Labor section. “Well, produce your own copy, Air Bickford,” challenged the candidate. Air Bickford did not do so, and Air Lysnar quoted from his own copy of the booklet, amid cries of “Bunkum.” The speaker also stated that extreme Labor was against King and Parliament and was ready to obtain revolution by T force, if necessary. t Air Bickford : “I contradict that.” Air Lysnar: “Well. I won’t ask you to rely on my word and' you must not take Mr Bickford’s, hut T’li give you that, of somebody else.” He then quoted from Hansard statements by Labor leaders in the House. Air- Bickford; “I’ll give you the names of more people whom you can quote. AYe’ve got plenty of them.” A Voice: “‘Just fancy that now!” Somebody in the audience whistled a few bars of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” hut Air Lysnar went on with his quotations, closing his address amidst‘great applause.
