BRITISH TEAM LEAVE’ FOR : AUSTRALIA. FAREWELL MESSAGE! TO DOMINION. TRIBUTES TcThOSPITALITY. NEW- ZEALANDERS KNOW GAME BUT LACK EXPERIENCE. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 9. The British tennis team left i»v the Marama this afternoon for Sydney to commence an Australian tour of three months. Three weeks will be spent in South Africa before returning to England. In a farewell message, the manager. Mr. H. Anthony Sabelli, who is also the official representative of the Lawn Tennis Association at Home, said: “I wish to express our great appreciation of the arrangements made by the _ New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association and by associations in Wellington,' Auckland, Canterbury, and Rotorua in connection with cur matches, and our comfort and the entertainment during the visit. We wish to thank most sincerely officials, private individuals, players, and the public, for the very kind receptions to us on all occasions. Nohodv could have wished for more enthusiastic spectators, or more sporting opponents. Wc have two regrets—that the match at Wellington fell through owing to the truly np-. palling weather, and that the visit to New Zealand was so short. Goodbye and good luck to all.” Mr. Sabelli was disinclined to comment upon the relative styles and standards of the play at Home andl in the Dominion. He said it was “not- his job.” He realised that the Now Zealanders thus early in the season could not he expected to produce their highest form. They certainly knew the game, but lacked experience of all styles of play. _ It was with the object of securing wider experience that the British team was sent abroad.
