D. Lysnar before a gathering of Te Hapara electors lastnight. A voice: “Did any of them say they would give up sheep-farming to do dairying?” “No, but they might have had to, replied Mr. Lysnar. The interjector: “I’ll bet you you didn’t.” (Laughter.) “No; and I hope I won’t have to,” retorted the candidate. _ “You .are too cunning,” replied the heckler amidst uproar. “If,” continued Mr. Lysnar, “Harry Holland got into power, do you know what would happen?” A voice: “He would make you work, and that’s what you’re frightened of.” (Laughter.) “No,” corrected the candidate. “Harry Holland said he would put me out of the way once he was in power.” (Laughter.) Mr: Lysnar addad he was standing to prevent Extreme Labor getting into power. He had told Mr. Coates he retained his right to criticise the Government, and. therefore, he would not accept Cabinet rank. A voice (sarcastically); “It’s polite to wait till you’re asked.” (Laughter.!
