TAXATION UNDER REFORM GOVERNMENT.
MR.: LYSNAR CORRECTS MR,
COLEMAN,
Declaring that the Reform Government. had . reduced taxation all round, Mr. ‘Lysnar affirmed at his Kaiti meeting on Thursday night that Labor’s contention that only the . wealthy landowners benelitted , was.. entirely wrong* The taxes had been imposed by tne National Government in the* first place. “British tea pays no duty now—surely that does not help only the wealthy, as Mr. Coleman says,” added Mr. Lysnar. “And what about household linen r”’ A voice: “And gramophones too.” Expressing the wish that the interjector had told Mr. Coleman all about it before; and thus saved the speaker the time now wasted in explaining it, Mr. Lysnar instanced further concessions in regard to crockery, linoleums and other similar articles. (Applause).
