NEW POWER BOARD SECRETARY.
APPRECIATION OF MR SANDERS’ SERVICES AT DANNEVIRKE.
A special meeting of tlie Dannevirke" Power Board was, on Tuesday, called to consider the resignation of the secretary, Mr V. E.-'Sanders, he having been appointed secretary of the Poverty Bay Power Board. The chairman said he was sure he was voicing the feelings of. all the board when he expressed regret at the resignation of their secretary. Mi- Sanders’ work had been eminently satisfactory, and they all ; appreciated the ability and the thoroughly capable manner in which lie had handled their business. Personally, lie had always felt and declared that the success of any association or public body depended upon its executive officers’, and he appreciated the excellent and valuable work done for the board by Mr Sanders and the quickness with which lie had gathered up the threads of ihe work on" his appointment. He had not discussed the question with Mr Sanders and was not suggesting that the hoard should ask him to reconsider his resignation. because he understood Mr Sanders had already written accepting the new appointment and therefore it only remained to wish him all the best in his new position and to move that his resignation be accepted with regret. Mr Ji W. Effingham, in seconding tne motion, said in Mr Sanders the board had had a very- excellent servant, who had always given of his best and had rendered valuable service. They could only accept the: resignation with regret and ‘wish. Mr Sanders every success iri his new appointment. \ ; ■ Air H. S- M- Quigley, in endorsing the remarks of the previous sneakers, congratulated Mr Sanders on his appointment to Gisborne. He perhaps better than the other members of the board knew, what Mr Sanders' work had been and he could say it had been done with strict' integrity and attention'to duty. He was going to a good position, which he well deserved, and it was quite possible that the Poverty Roy Board might not he able to keep hint long, as he was-a valuable servant to.anv body. ,Mr M. O. Grainger added his endorsement.
Air Sanders; in thanking members for their kindly remarks. - said-he was resigning his position tinder them with sincere regret. He appreciated greatly his association with the hoard, recognising that they appreciated' hi& work, and he had greatly enjoyed his association with such a fine body of gentlemen. ■' . . The motion was then carried and the chairman’s action in calling the meeting at short notice was endorsed.
