ROWING
GISBORNE, CLUB. FIRST TRIAL FOURS
Racing in connection, with the Gisborne Rowing Club's First Trial Fours was continued last evening. Owing to the lateness of crews arriving at the shed and the state of the tide only two races took plqce. The first at the, starting post were K. A. Woodward r (st.), S.. Scott, Morrison and Ball and Hankey (s.t.), Allen (sub.), Somerville and Rooke. Both crews got away, nicely and raced stroke for stroke to • the footbridge, bub hero. Woodward’s No. 3 had an accident which lost the boat a lot of water and Hankey had no difficulty in winning by a length and a half
The . only other race was between W. Kennedy (st.), H. Hunter, He Costa and Gray and G. Forbes (st.), McGregor, -Primrose and Watt. From the word “row” Kennedy, rowing nicely, took charge and at the footbridge had two lengths lead on Forbes and had m, difficulty in winning by a length. The races will bo continued this evening, * when Kennedy rows Havikey, Fromm rows Jeunc and . Foster meets Shaw.
