The word of a dying infidel, a man who does net believe in future punishment, should not be taken iiy a court of law as seriously as that of a believer, attorneys for Mrs. Emma Marshall say (reports the Decatur, Alabama, correspondent of the New York “World”). They are trying to have her conviction of murder reversed on this ground. Mrs. Marshall s husband swoe. on his deathbed that she shot him while he slept. J. N. Row all. her counsel, contends that, as an infidel, Marshall would just as soon as not have made a false, statement. “My contention,” Powell said, “is that if a man is an infidel lie professes no l religion to bind his conscience to speak the truth. He does not believe in . future punishme lit of tlio soul. He does not believe in God, and would as soon make a false statement on In's deathbed as in the prime of life.” .
